About Kurumban
A small studio with strong opinions. We design, draw, build and install — under one roof, by people who have done this for years.
Our story
Chapter 01
A name with weight
"Kurumban" — a Tamil reference to the elephant-trainers and tribal craftspeople of the Western Ghats, people who knew wood and wisdom in the same breath. We took the name to remind ourselves how the work is meant to be done: patiently, by hand, and with deep regard for the material.
Chapter 02
How we think about a room
A space is not a sum of finishes. It is the way light moves across a teak shutter at four in the afternoon. The way a doorframe carries weight. The way a kitchen lets a family talk while one of them cooks. We design for those moments first.
Chapter 03
A workshop, not a vendor list
Most "interior firms" are aggregators — they sub-contract the work and supervise. We do not. Our carpenters are full-time. Our finishes happen in our own paint room. Our quality is something we own, not something we hope someone else delivered.
Founder
Managing Director
Dinesh started Kurumban with a single drawing table and three carpenters in 2008. Seventeen years on, he still walks every workshop floor and still answers the phone himself.
His belief — that interior work belongs to the people who do it, not to the people who outsource it — shapes how this studio is built and how we deliver, project after project.

Our values
I
Material before image
A render is a promise. Real wood is the kept one. We will always insist on real samples in your hand before any approval.
II
Honesty in numbers
Every quote is itemised. If a wood costs more, we tell you why. If a corner can be cut without losing soul, we tell you that too.
III
Heritage, not nostalgia
Pooja rooms, vasal doors, brass inlays — these get the reverence they deserve. We are not in the business of "Tamil-themed" — we are in the business of getting it right.
IV
Time as a deliverable
Your project is not the only one in our schedule, but on the day we promised, we will deliver. Slipping is a respectability problem, not a planning one.
