The brief
The Arasu family wanted a home that felt rooted — not themed, not literal, but quietly Tamil in its bones. We led with Burma teak: full-height wardrobe shutters in the master bedroom, a hand-carved pooja room in rosewood with concealed brass diya cove lighting, kitchen cabinetry in fluted teak with stone-cast countertops. The living room takes the loudest position with a teak-panelled TV unit and a set of woven jute lamps that we sourced from Kanchipuram. Every joint was inspected on the workshop floor before it travelled to site.

“They built our pooja room the way my grandmother described temple work. We delayed moving in just to admire it.”
